Collections

The Library’s onsite collections lie at the heart of its resources and services. The various parts of the overall collection are constantly being evaluated and updated. As well as searching for and evaluating new information resources, Librarian/Bibliographers assess existing collection items in order to insure that the collections are relevant and useful in supporting the educational objectives of the University, and serving the students’ needs. The tangible information resources available for use have been organized into the following collections:

Circulating booksBook Stacks

These items, in print and digital format on CD-ROM, disk, or DVD include over 29,000 titles that may by checked out. Use the Library Catalog to find items in this collection. Please note that items located at Embry-Riddle are marked with a white check mark in a red circle. Items located at other YLN Libraries may be borrowed by placing a hold or request in the Catalog.

Reference Books and Atlases

Reference books and atlases must be used in the Library so that they remain on the premises available for anyone to use at any time. A few of the most useful items are kept at the Reference Desk.

Reserves

Professors identify items in all formats which support specific courses, and may be checked out at the Circulation desk for a limited time period. For more information, please go to our Reserves page.

Visual Resources DVDs

Videotapes and DVDs for both curriculum support and recreation may be checked out or used with Library viewing equipment in the building. These are all searchable in the Library Catalog.

Periodicals

Magazines and journals for both leisure reading and academic work can be found in the Periodicals section and are shelved in alphabetical order by title. A list of titles is available on our web site. Some past issues of periodicals are on microfilm or microfiche and are located in file cabinets near the paper issues. Periodicals must be used in the Library. Single articles may be copied for individual use. Reader/printer/scanner equipment for microforms is located near the fiche and film cabinets.

NASA & NTIS Technical Reports

These technical reports in the fields of Aeronautics, Astronautics, and Space Exploration are in microfiche and CDROM. They are stored in cabinets near the Periodicals, and are kept in order by report number.

Paperback books

A small collection of paperbackooks, mostly fiction, are meant for leisure reading and may be checked out for 2-week periods. Browse the shelves by author, or look for them in the Library Catalog.

Aviation & Aerospace History Collection

This Special Collection consists of items which help document our rich aviation heritage. In order to protect and preserve these sometimes fragile pieces, they are maintained in a closed collection. You may identify them by using the Library Catalog. Library Staff are happy to assist you with these items.

University Archives

This Special Collection of resources chronicles the history, development, and activities of ERAU, especially the Prescott campus. They are stored under climate-controlled conditions for optimal preservation. Library Staff are happy to assist you with these items.
