As part of the Technical Services Department, Acquisitions serves the function of obtaining quality items to add to our collection. Knowledge of the publishing industry and vendors who supply tangible information resources helps to insure that the collection is kept current, relevant, and balanced. We want to make sure that tuition dollars that come to us through the University are spent in the most effective way to support all educational activities on the Prescott campus.
With the help of all Library staff, the Acquisitions department takes care of purchasing and receiving all new items, and the acceptance and distribution of gifts to various parts of our collection. This insures that the onsite collections are constantly growing and improving.
Faculty, staff, and students are strongly encouraged to help us acquire quality materials by making suggestions for new purchase, as well as sources for obtaining information resources.
The Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University-Prescott Campus Library accepts donations to its collection. Each donation is evaluated to ensure that it isn’t a duplicate and that it fits with our collection policy. Items that do not fit these criteria will be either returned to the donor, placed in our ‘free’ box for anyone to take, or given to the Yavapai Library Network.
